ClipDetective (“ClipDetective”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Xyvron Enterprises, LLC. This policy explains what information we access and store when you use ClipDetective at https://clipdetective.studio, how we use it, who we share it with, and how you can review or delete it. ClipDetective is a tool that analyzes YouTube videos and channels to help creators understand their content and how it compares to others.
Connecting your channel is optional and uses Google’s OAuth sign-in. We request read-only access to the following Google/YouTube scopes:
youtube.readonly — your channel identity (channel ID, title, subscriber and video counts) and your list of videos, to confirm the connection and identify your content.yt-analytics.readonly — your private YouTube Analytics: views, average view duration and percentage, impressions and click-through rate, and per-video audience-retention curves. This is the private “Studio” data a public API key cannot read.When you sync, we store the returned metrics and your Google authorization token (including a refresh token) in your isolated account area on our server, so we can refresh these numbers for you without asking you to sign in again. We request no write access — ClipDetective cannot post, edit, or delete anything on your channel.
To produce analyses and comparisons, ClipDetective also retrieves publicly available information about videos and channels you choose to analyze (your own and, for comparison, others): video metadata and public statistics, public comments, search results, and thumbnails. Specifically, this comes from the YouTube Data API (and YouTube’s public thumbnail servers, at the addresses that API returns), and — for topic and trend research — from Google’s public search-suggestion service, Google News RSS feeds, and Google Trends. It does not require anyone’s private account access.
Transcripts, frames and audio. ClipDetective does not download transcripts, captions, video or audio from YouTube. Transcript, frame and audio analysis happen only when you supply your own media file, and run entirely on our server — the media is not sent to any third-party transcription or analysis service.
If you send an in-app “results look off” report, we store your message together with the relevant analysis context so we can improve accuracy. Don’t include anything in a report you don’t want us to retain.
We do not use your YouTube Studio data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not transfer it to others except the service providers below strictly needed to operate ClipDetective.
ClipDetective does not use generative AI. Scores, comparisons and reports are produced by measurement and rule-based scoring on our own server. Some of that measurement uses machine-learning models — speech recognition to transcribe media you supply, an audio classifier for speech energy and emotion, and computer-vision routines for thumbnails and frames. These models run locally on our own server: we do not send your content to any third-party AI or machine-learning provider, and none of your data is used to train or improve any model — ours or anyone else’s.
These are the third parties that hold or receive data when you use ClipDetective, what each one gets, and why:
Payments are not live yet; when they launch they will be processed by Stripe, and this policy will be updated to describe exactly what Stripe receives before that happens.
These providers process data only to perform their function for us. We do not permit them to use your private YouTube Studio data for their own purposes, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone else.
Google user data — limited use.
ClipDetective’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
ClipDetective uses YouTube API Services. By using the parts of ClipDetective that access YouTube, you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
You can review and revoke ClipDetective’s access to your Google account at any time from the Google security settings page: myaccount.google.com/permissions.
We retain data only as long as needed to provide the service or as required by law. Search and trend results we cache to run analyses are keyed by search term, contain no personal data, and are kept and refreshed as they are used rather than deleted on a fixed schedule.
ClipDetective is operated from the United States, and your data is processed and stored on servers in the United States. If you use ClipDetective from the EU, UK, or elsewhere, your data is transferred to and handled in the US as described in this policy.
We process your data to provide the service you signed up for (your account, your analyses), and your private YouTube data only under the OAuth consent you grant — which you can withdraw at any time (section 6). Wherever you are, you have the same controls: access and export everything we hold about you, correct your account details, and delete some or all of it — all self-service from your Account page, no request or waiting period required. If you believe we have mishandled your data, contact us at the address below; EU/UK users also have the right to complain to their local data protection authority.
Access tokens and account data are stored in per-user areas on our server and are not exposed to other users. We use industry-standard measures to protect your information; no method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard the data we hold.
ClipDetective is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
We may update this policy as ClipDetective evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, communicated in the app.
